Slice of Life – Day 19

Book Madness

What would your March Madness book bracket look like?

Who would be your Cinderella teams?

New favorites or rediscovered classics.

Who would be in your final four?

Harry Potter v. To Kill a Mockingbird.

Where the Wild Things Are v. The Lorax.

What would take a book to victory?

Outstanding writing v. a beloved character.

Katniss Everdeen v. Hester Pryne.

Or would a soul-piercing theme take all?

Good versus evil v. love wins.

Coming of age v. a loyal friendship.

A book that wins the heart of a reader earns the trophy every time.

  1. What books would make my brackets? How could I possible choose between some? Realism? Fantasy? Realistic Fantasy? Nonfiction? Graphic Novels? But oh what fun to read and play!!

  2. What a clever idea, Aileen. My final four…now that’s something to think about. Definitely To Kill A Mockingbird and I’d have to include In the Middle because it influenced my professional life so much, then maybe Little Women and Number the Stars. Great post!

  3. I’m a little late finding this post, but I wanted to share how much I love the idea of a March Madness bracket for books! I’ve been looking for ideas to share with our teachers on how they can encouraging a love for reading. This would surely excite a classroom of students to get reading!
